Mutations


Mutations are finally upon us! They will be allowed case-by-case with certain rules and regulations in place to prevent over-crowding. 


Mutation Rules


 

1. You don't have to request or pay for a mutation. Simply submit your mutated character to the group like any other.

 

2. Only 2nd Characters and above can have mutations.

3. Injuries don't count as mutations (e.g. cut-off tail doesn't count as a bobtail mutation)

4. There are two Tiers,

➤ Tier 1 includes the most popular and most life-altering mutations

➤ Tier 2 includes the less invasive and less popular ones.

5. To keep mutations rare, every player can only have either one Tier 1 mutation or two Tier 2 mutations

6. If a mutation is overused, it may get capped. 

7. Mutations will have to follow realistic guidelines. Somatic mutation can't be a half-white, half-black wolf, for example. 

Puppy Rules:


1. Mutations are not passed down.

2. There can only be a maximum of 1 mutation in a litter.

3. Keep the pack regulations and lifestyle in mind. [ e.g. Taiga won't accept an Albino in the pack ]

Tier 1


Albinism

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- sensitive to bright light

- skin burns easily (esp. on ears and nose)

Blind

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- unable to hunt or fight

- unable to navigate complex terrain

 

Somatic Mutation

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- depends on the coat; possibly worse camouflage

- no health risks


Hairless

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- extreme sensitivity to cold, heat, sunlight and more

- easily injured skin

- prone to skin infection

Folded Ears

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- more susceptible to ear infection or ear mites

- slightly lesser hearing

Heterochromia

1 active character [Jorunn]

 

Negative Side Effects:
- no known side effects


Tier I also includes the following non-visual mutations: Deaf, Mute

Tier ii


Bobtail

Negative Side Effects:
- worse balance

- less effective swimming

- unclear body language

Melanism

Negative Side Effects:
- no known side effects

Over-/Underbite

0 active characters

 

Negative Side Effects:
- possibly crooked teeth

- possibly difficulties eating and hunting


Curled Tail

Negative Side Effects:
- potentially impaired body language

Wire Hair

Wavy Coat

Tier II also includes the following non-visual mutation: Nose-Blind
