Kynheim

Companions

Rules

1. Companions may be purchased by any wolf, regardless of age or rank or age. Visit the Shop for further details.

2. Before you can display your companion on the character's application sheet or use it in submissions, you have to submit one piece explaining why they stick around one another or how they formed their speicific bond. This could be your wolf providing feed for the bird or the bird being attracted by some habit or trait of your wolf.

3, Companions can not speak with your wolf! As with any other non-canine animal in Kynheim, the language your character speaks differs from how birds communicate. Therefore, birds can not speak with your wolf or vice versa! However, just like with real world pets, both companion and wolf can learn each other's body language and habits.

4. If your character acts in a way that would endanger or repel their companion, they may not stick around much longer. Therefore, some species of birds may be harder to maintain a connection with than others. You can use this to retire companions!

5. Generally speaking, carrion birds and predatory birds are easier to keep around than songbirds. There may always be exceptions, but a shared diet and coorperative lifestyle will make it easier to offer your companion something they value. If you wanna attract songbirds, you may have to get creative!

6. Ideally you do some research on your bird companion's species. What do they like? What are their natural enemies? Where do they live? What could be a reason for them to stick around a predator?

Available Species

If you want a different companion than those on the list below, feel free to note the group or tend to the #questions channel on Discord to suggest other species.

Loners can pick any bird as their companion! It's recommended to give a reasonable backstory on how they met their companion though. Wouldn't make sense to pick up a duck in the mountains or a Barn Owl in the desert.
