Breeding

• Unions of all kinds are welcomed! However, only mature wolves aged Young Adult and above are allowed to have mates.
• Only ranked members of the packs are allowed to have mates and offspring, which means that before a character can have a family, they must contribute to the pack and become at least a Delta or Tasked.
• The wolves of Kynheim are monogamous, which means they can only have one mate at a time, however, the traditions may differ from pack to pack.
• Unless a character is tied by mateship, they can have as many partners as they wish. One should mind IC consequences though, as the society may not be tolerant to such individuals.
• Two characters of the same player can become mates, but have to undergo the same process as if they were of different players.

Proof of Courtship

Before the players can purchase the "become mates" item from the shop, they are to submit at least five dA pieces depicting the two characters interacting and bonding, either via RPs or art or both. Collabs are very welcomed here!

If the bonding pieces include participation in a plot or event together, the number of the required submissions will be reduced to four.

No less than four pieces of art or RP should be submitted, regardless of the circumstances. Becoming mates is an important step in any wolf's life so we'd like to see that players and their characters acknowledge this.

Ideas for the pieces may be the following:

1) The first meeting

2) Hunting together

3) Dealing with a problem together

4) Witnessing each other's negative traits and coping with them

5) Playing together

6) Gifting each other something

7) Showing how much they care for each other

Underlined are the prompts that have the most influence on a relationship and thus, might be done to show the depth of the bond. You're welcome to choose your own scenes though, none of these have to be used at all.

Becoming official

Once the pieces are done and you feel that your co-player is as invested in the pairing as you are, feel free to note the group on dA (not on Discord, not in personal accounts) with the form below. You and your co-player are to submit the note from both accounts. The time between sending the notes should not exceed 48 hours. After the request is approved, your pair will be added to the list of official mated couples.

 Divorcing

Not all couples have to work out! If you wish to end a mateship, both players have to fill in the following format and send it via dA notes to the group.

Please note: We may not require both players to send the note if the union is broken because of OOC reasons (e.g. inactivity). In this case, please contact the admin team via dA group notes and we'll figure out the solution.

Characters don't have to be mates to have pups! It may just be a rush of hormones, an accidental litter or a mutual wish to have offspring without engaging.

For this, the characters need to have at least one piece of either art or RP where the characters express their intentions.

• Please note that no explicitly sexual scenes should be included in the submissions, the content may be suggestive but must fade to black.
• There are times when having a relationship is forbidden. Examples of this may be characters of different ranks that wish to be together, those who already have a mate or those who wish to bind themselves with a loner/wolf of a different pack. If they engage in sexual activities together regardless and have a litter as a result, there may be consequences depending on the packs' rules.

• The maximum litter size is five pups. The number of pups the pair conceives is up for the parents to decide. For more information and prices please check out the Shop.
• The mother will be pregnant for two RL months strarting from the day you've sent the pregnancy request. In this time the parents should prepare their applications, should they decide to keep some pups for themselves and find players for the remaining pups.
• It is up to the parents' players whether they create an adoption sheet for other members to try out, keep the pups for themselves or have a dramatic plot of some pups being stillborn due to the harsh weather, trauma or stress.
• Homosexual, infertile or other pairings that cannot have a litter naturally are free to adopt orphaned pups or have a surrogate.

A surrogate must:

- have agreed to the affair

- have a Delta rank or higher

- be healthy so that the affair will harm neither their, nor the partner's wellbeing

After deciding to have pups, both players are free to submit the note to the dA group for it to be reviewed. The time between sending the notes should not exceed 48 hours. After the request is approved, your litter will be added to the list with the important milestones.

During pregnancy, the couple is expected to create at least one piece depicting the pair expecting a litter.

Ideas for the piece may be the following:

1) One of the partners revealing the pregnancy to the other

2) Caring for the expecting partner

3) Sharing the nervousness with a more experienced wolf or a friend

4) Getting the birthing place ready

It can be a handful to decipher all the genotypes a puppy can have. Don't be shy if you're not sure how to approach the topic of genetics in regards to your upcoming litter! We're more than happy to help with calculating the possible colors and markings of your puppies. 

Best place to get help is either the #genetics-help channel on discord OR group notes. The latter is particularly useful if your litter is to remain secret until born.
